Blöndalshús takes its name from the Blöndal family who once lived in the house, among them the renowned Icelandic artist Gunnlaugur Blöndal. The home carries a quiet cultural legacy that adds depth and character to your stay, blending Icelandic history with contemporary comfort.

Blöndalshús is located on the farm Lækjarhvammur in Húnaþing Vestra, surrounded by peaceful Icelandic countryside.

The house is ideal for two guests, offering an intimate and relaxing setting, but comfortably accommodates up to four with a sofa bed in the open-plan living area. Please note that this space does not have blackout curtains, meaning bright summer nights – but sleep masks are provided for your comfort. The house offers Wi-Fi and a fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, stovetop, wine cooler, oven, and dishwasher.

Adjacent to the house is an approximately 100 m² deck, where guests can unwind in the hot tub, cool off in the cold plunge pool, or refresh themselves under the outdoor shower.

Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway or a quiet break with friends, Valey offers a cozy, authentic stay in the Icelandic countryside. And who knows – you might even spot the neighboring farmer wandering around in his underwear.

Today, two of Gunnlaugur Blöndal’s artworks, along with a photograph of the artist himself, adorn the walls of Blöndalshús, adding a personal and cultural touch that makes the house feel truly special.
